The first thing that impressed me about this album was its start, with the almost liturgical "Dei Donum." (...) And I must say that together with this first detail, there was another one that ended up deciding my comment. A minor detail that, for those who do not speak English, can go unnoticed, and that I ignored that could happen in this kind of bands, (...) And what happens is that these guys have a clear social and protest message in their songs. (...) I think it's fantastic that these issues can also be discussed in this genre.

Here we go again with
another hot argen tinian melodic power metal act. After an imposant
intro starts the suberb produced album with the semi classical metal
track FACING THE RAGE. Spontan reminds me this composition on a mix of
the best tracks by YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and RAINBOW. I can hear also slight
influences by SYMPHONY X. But KYRIE ELEISON isn´t another plagiat of
this well know bands. Rather this act could be the next big thing.
ALEJANDRO FERNANDEZ is a singer with a fantastic voice. Also the fact
that all lyrics are written in english shows the ambition of the band to
reach international success. Personal I think their chance to become the
needful attention outside of south america is more than perfect. Byside
their multitalent DIEGO RIHEIRO COUTO which handles all guitar and the
keyboard parts sovereign too this group reigns on the top of the bands
of this genre. Several bombastic orchestral arranged compositions are
fulfiled by guest apperances. So inside
the fantastic more than seven minute long epos CHILDREN OF PAIN we enjoy
a female choir esemble in the background. In the midle part a lovely
female voice shares the vocal parts with Alejandro. Further two tracks
contains violin parts as well in an other one they use a cello too.But
the bigest aha effect on this album is for me the final track THE SHOW
MUST GO ON from the unforgotten dramatic rock gods QUEEN explains and
offers z´ undisputed qualities of this great band once more. Well done
gentle mens. Check em out in the web under

Kyrie
Eleison is a new symphonic power metal band that's surprisingly from
Argentina, as I would have guessed they were from Italy or somewhere
in Scandinavia. The style of their full-length debut, 'In the arms
of decadence', is very much in line with Rhapsody (of Fire),
Divinefire, Masterpiece, Thy Majestie, Bride Adorned, Holy Knights,
Six Magics and Irencros. Have I got your attention? Good.
One of the aspects of this debut that has stood out the most is the
crystal clear and extremely powerful production. Really, the sound
of the CD is tremendous and it's full of outstanding keyboard play,
an epic atmosphere, flashy guitar work (neo-classical style at
times), and plenty of speed. If you're a fan of the previously
mentioned bands, you know what I'm talking about, and rest assured
that 'In the arms of decadence' is a very competitive symphonic
power metal CD. There are also some nice classical violin and/or
piano parts, and although there's only a few of these moments, they
definitely add something special to the CD.
Vocally, Alejandro Fernandez kind-of reminds me of a typical Italian
power metal vocalist, but he's not as high-pitched. I don't consider
him spectacular, but he's solid and certainly capable of conveying a
vocal melody. In addition, there are some small choir parts,
definitely dominated by female vocalists, yet they remain in the
background for the most part, leaving Alejandro to run the show. I
will admit however, that the musical side of the CD is a bit
stronger than the vocal side.
My favorite songs are track 3 "Children of pain", track 7 "A
searcher's symphony" and track 10 "Liars", as they contain a lot of
speed, killer guitar work, and feature both keyboard and guitar
solos. I also like the fantastic (but short) instrumental "Darkness
& light" and the following track 9 "Since you are not here", which
is a wonderful ballad with atmospheric keys, female vocals and a
terrific guitar solo. To close the CD, we get yet another cover of
Queen's "The show must go on", following the footsteps of Irencros,
Metalium, Heavenblast and surely others. This is an absolutely
magnificent version though, with amazing orchestration, sweet guitar
work, vocalist Alejandro at his best, and it's probably better than
the versions from Irencros, Metalium and Heavenblast. In fact, it
just might be the best song on the CD!
My only minor complaint is that I wish 'In the arms of decadence'
was a bit more memorable, as the choruses don't really leave a
lasting impression. This falls in line with the vocal department
being a slight step down (in quality) compared to the powerful
music. I'm confident this is something that will improve with the
band's 2nd CD however, and like I said, this is just a "minor"
complaint. So we end up with an awesome symphonic power metal debut
that fans of the style should definitely check out.
The first thing that impressed me about this album was its start, with the almost liturgical "Dei Donum." (...) And I must say that together with this first detail, there was another one that finally decided my comment. A slight detail that, for those who do not speak English, can go unnoticed and that I ignored that could happen in this kind of bands, (...) And it's that these guys have a clear social message in their songs. (...) I think it is fantastic that these subjects can also be discussed in this genre.
2/6/2008 - KYRIE ELEISON - IN THE ARMS OF DECADENCE
This first work by the band is really good, due to the melodies and catchy choruses, its strong neo-classical power metal style, and Diego Ribeiro Couto´s performance in guitars and keyboards.
The album starts with an instrumental intro 'Dei Donum' with very good keyboards creating a fantastic atmosphere.
It's followed by 'Facing The Rage' in a progressive power metal line, very much in Symphony X's style, a very catchy song, with lots of hooks.
From the songs in the album, 'River of Tears', 'Inner', 'Since you are not here', and Queen's cover "The show must go on" are remarkable. Particularly in 'Inner', Alejandro Fernandez's wide vocal range can be observed, reaching very high pitches in some sections, and then going low, to an even raspy voice. A song that, together with 'A Searcher's Symphony', reminds us of Epica.
To sum up, the album is very entertaining and more than recommended for those who like this genre.
Now here we have something very sensational!
KYRIE ELEISON is coming out of Argentina, were formed almost 10
years ago, but are making their full-length debut with the CD ‘In
the arms of decadence’ on the Japanese label ART UNION RECORDS. They
sing in English, so no problem there and after hearing just a few
seconds I knew this was gonna be a very interesting release. KYRIE
ELEISON has a sound that is very European orientated, Melodic Neo-Classical
Power Metal a la SONATA ARCTICA, VISION DIVINE, early LABYRINTH,
ROYAL HUNT and KAMELOT are clearly names that come up when hearing
their CD. Take it from me they also reach the high level of those
bands, thanks to a huge sound of their CD, some incredible music
talent of the band members, amazing vocalwork of singer Alejandro
Fernandez and last but not least, a bunch of sensational songs that
contain catchy hooks and memorable choruses. The band is sounding
very close to VISION DIVINE and with songs like "A searcher’s
symphony", "Children of pain", "Facing the rage" and "Liars" they
have true winners for fans of mentioned bands. From out of nowhere
this high quality CD lands on your desk and then you know it is all
worth it, digging and graving under every rock in the world to find
that yet undiscovered sensational band and this time they are called
KYRIE ELEISON, a name to remember if you like VISION DIVINE, KAMELOT
and such Melodic Power Metal acts. More info at:

"...kind of an Argentinian symphonic power
metal superproduction with good doses of neoclassical guitars. Their
first album, has had quite an impact in Japan (...) surprisingly, it
is self-produced, nevertheless, it has been distributed through
several countries thanks to some distributing companies..."
"...The guys sound really professional,
extremely polished and technical (...) There's a lot to highlight,
and I'm not just referring to the sound or art design -extremely
excellent- but to the work of the guitars and choir, with a really
very good approach, and consistent with the general offer."
"Impressive debut CD by this good band
of the western side of Buenos Aires city. In the side of the
most furious and elaborated orchestral melodic power metal.
Kyrie Eleison is Alejandro Fernandez (vocals), Diego Ribeiro
Couto (gtr and keyboards), Horacio Carrizo (bass), and
Sergio Vazquez (drums). They also count with a 14-people guest
choir, plus a violinist, and a cellist. In opposition to the
subject matter of demons and dragons, typical in power
metal, the songs talk about more earthly and everyday
matters, such as corruption, unemployment, insecurity,
hunger, children of the streets, and unjustice. “River Of
Tears”, for example, talk about the floods in Santa Fe in
April of 2003. All lyrics are in English. In the musical
aspects, they are very talented and have a very high level,
we could even say they seem to be European. I highlight the
songs “Facing The Rage”, “River Of Tears”, “Inner”, “A
Searcher’s Symphony” and the ballad “Since You Are Not Here”.
The CD contains 12 tracks, including a cover version of
Queen's “The Show Must Go On”, and four instrumental tracks.
Recommended for fans of bands like Rhapsody.
Very good cover art by Pablo Aschei,
and the general design..."
"First Long Play by Kyrie Eleison,
an outstanding local band of the Argentinian power metal
scene, that unleashes eleven songs of their own
authorship, and a "Queen" cover (“The Show Must Go On”).
The lyrics are in English, with an
outstandind work by Alejandro Fernandez (although, for
my personal taste, he over-uses high notes a little) and
the presence of a choir made up of fourteen local
musicians -some of them, from known bands of the Buenos
Aires underground, such as Dominus Inferi or Jezabel.
As for the musical style, we are in
front of an orchestral power metal album, where the
keyboards and the guitar solos have great preponderance and
the influences of Yngwie Malmsteen or Rhapsody are
inevitable.
An album worthy of export. A peculiar
(musical) vision of a world in the arms of decadence."

"I've always firmly considered and
believed that national bands, with the will to make things
the right way, effort, and dedication, have nothing to envy
from foreign groups.
Such is the case of Kyrie Eleison, which
through their debut CD "...In The Arms Of Decadence", offers
12 songs of exceptional quality, 11 of which are their own
authoship, and the remaining one, a monumental cover.
K-E's musical offer is basically heavy-power
of a very good taste, with some Rhapsody influence, with a
very personal style.
The band sounds very tight, which
sould already be perceived in their demo-CD, with sharp
guitars, a tight bass, powerful drums, and keyboards that
boost all the melodies, accompanied by a powerful yet
pleasant voice.
Good lyrics (in English), some with a
personal sense, some other ones of reflection, with
instrumental songs, too.
The cover mentioned at the beginning?
Well, nothing less than “The Show Must Go On” from the
immortal Queen...!
Final words: that the guys from K-E keep
going on this path, which foresees a promising future, and
that they keep on bringing musical jewels like this one.."
